Speedwell smiled, "It was definately from my Father." He said simply with a little chuckle, "He lived on the moors, with the rabbits. So he got their fur some way or another, and I got it too." It wasn't meant to be a real story. WindClan cats rarely fought. When it came to fight or flight, they were usually flight. Soft coats were a little more natural for them.

Blightpaw looked up at him. "Cool," she murmured. Her tail lashed, the sun catching the black tip and making it glisten. "I only got the black tip and the blue eyes from my dad. My mom had amber." Normally, white cats with blue eyes were blind, but she wasn't. She was happy she wasn't, too.
She noticed that she hadn't taken her paws off his side so she let them fall to the ground. She somewhat felt close to him because of their past, but she didn't know if he felt the same so she kept her mouth shut. Her blue eyes twinkled in the sunlight.

"I see." Speedwell murmured with a little smile, "My eyes are a mix. My Mother's were emerald, and my father's were an deep brown. I got forest green." He murmured and glanced over at a king fisher darting from it's post in the tree and grabbing a fish from the water, "Perhaps we should do some fishing." He suggested, his stomach growling at the thought.

"Sure. We ate lots of fish at the beach. Though, they tasted better. I think it was the water quality or something." She walked closer to the pool, leaning away to get her shadow on the land. "I watched my mom do it," she murmured. Though she didn't know how to do it particularly.

Speedwell nodded, and watched her, "Keep your shadow out of the water, good. Scoop up the fish towards you, and make sure you use your claws. Then just a quick bite in the side should do." He murmured, not daring to move and cause a vibration, "Yes, the twolegs taint the water occasionally. And the sun-drown place has a more salty water, and from what I heard in stories, a different variety of fish." Speedwell murmured his knowledge.

Blightpaw cocked her head at 'sun down place' but she ignored it. She saw a small black dot swirl around the water. She lashed out a paw with unsheathed claws and the fish flew into the air. She jumped for it, but it fell back into the water a few fox lengths away. She was up to her belly in the water, now. She frowned.
"Mom makes it look easy." she muttered.

Speedwell chuckled, "It takes practice." He purred and stepped towards her now, "I took a dip in the water twenty times before I got one." It was the truth. He was terrible at catching fish at the beginning, but eventually used his long legs to his advantage, "Let's move to the river, farther upstream. All the fish will be hiding now." Speedwell murmured and almost immediatly disappeared in the undergrowth towards the main river.

Blightpaw ran through the river, leaping because the water didn't particularly let her run through it. She reached the surface and she shook from head to toe. She ran after Speedwell, following his scent. She found him at the river. A warm breeze flew into the small clearing, but it felt icey cold from the water. She shivered.
It didn't help that she was so small and she had less body heat. She walked over to him and sat next to him. She wanted to duck under his foreleg and snuggle near his stomach, but that was kit stuff. Her mom would want her to be a warrior. "What if I fall in?" she asked suddenly, eyeing the moving water. She didn't know how to swim very well. Her mom never let her in water deeper than the tips of her paws. She glanced at him and backed away just a little.
There was still that fear that she would fall in and drown and Speedwell would just watch. Her eyes showed her horror and her ears lay flat on her head. She kept her body close to the ground, shivering at every breeze.

"If anything happens, just pretend that your running through water, and head for the nearest shore. Don't panic." He murmured. Nothing would happen while he was here, but it was good that she knew what to do, "Now that doesn't mean you're going to fall in, I'm here and I know how to carry a little apprentice like you to shore." Speedwell purred reassuringly.

Blightpaw slowly walked back to him, belly still touching the ground. Her ears somewhat inched forward. "Little?" she repeated. "Am I really that small?" She looked up at him with her big, blue eyes. She didn't think she was that small. She shivered and sat next to him again.

Speedwell stared questioningly at her for a moment and then laughed, "Oh no. You aren't small for your age." He murmured, "I meant more to be comparing to a full grown cats, and that you were young." His voice was filled with a chuckle. The tom hadn't meant to defend her, and thought it was surprisingly cute to see his apprentice worry about her size, "Now someone like Salmonfur, I couldn't carry him to shore even if I had StarClan at my side." Speedwell put some humor into the topicl.

Blightpaw giggled. She rarely ever giggled or laughed. "I guess that's cool," she murmured. She twirled her paw in the mud, making small circles. "Um.. We were talking about fish?" she asked. She looked back up at him.

Speedwell nodded, "Yes. Don't worry about the river while you're fishing. Remember to scoop the fish towards you." He said, suddenly back on topic.

Blightpaw couldn't help it, but she was concentrating on him, not what he was saying. She shook her head, understanding she had to try it again. Her tail lashed as she watched for black dots. She found one and lashed out, scooping towards her. The fish was squirming in her claws. She brought it to land and bit the side. She stretched out her foreleg, showing him the fish, smiling. It was just a fluke.

Speedwell's eyes widened for a second, then warmed up with a smile, "Impressive." He purred with a nod, "Why don't we try again so we know that was't just beginners luck," The warrior suggested, still smiling.
